34 Weeks

How your baby's growing:

Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.

Save The Twinkie!

~ Phosphorus, park of a key Twinkie ingredient, was discovered in 1669 by German alchemist Hennig Brand when he boiled down the urine he collected from local nuns.

~ Twinkie cream gets its slippery sheen from cotton cellulose, which serves the same purpose in rocket fuel.

~ Despite popular lore, Twinkies will not survive a nuclear war any better than you will - Their average shelf life is 25 days.

~ The Twinkie was invented in 1930 in Chicagoland by James Dewar - Now known as Grandpa Twinkie - At Hostess' Schiller Park Bakery. An advertisement for Twinkle Toes shoes inspired its name. They were invented basically because he wanted to get more use out of his shortcake pans.

~ Back in 1930, Twinkies were sold 2 for 5 cents! Which made it affordable for Dwar to purchase them since he never saw a penny of royalties.

~ Hostess reported over 21 Million Twinkies were sold last year.

~ Former President Bill Clinton included a Twinkie as "an object of enduring American symbolism" when compiling the Nation Millennium Time Capsule in 1999. It's scheduled to be opened in 2100.

~ Twinkies originally were filled with banana cream, but the filling was switched to vanilla when bananas were rationed during World War II. The new flavor was so popular, Hostess kept it.

~ There are 17 Hostess bakeries across the country making 500 million Twinkies every year. It takes 40,000 miles of plastic wrap a year to package them. At 150 calories each, all of those Twinkies have the energy equivalent to nearly 51,000 barrels of crude oil.

~ There are 39 ingredients in a Twinkie: flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, water, and "trace" of egg. The rest of the ingredient list is, "less natural."

~ In 2005 alone, Americans spent $47 Million on Twinkies.

~ People in Chicago eat more Twinkies per capita than anywhere else, earning Chicago the title of "Twinkie Capital of the World."

33 Weeks

How your baby's growing:

This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.) These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.

December Recap .... A LITTLE LATE!

We had 3 birthday's in December. Samuel, Elena and Ian all turned a year older. We had Ian's birthday party at the house. The grandparents were there. He wanted cupcakes instead of cake so that is what we got him. Other than that it was finger food. Unfortunately, Sam & Elena both live in CO so we sent them cards.

We had 2 baby appointments in December. Both were just routine checks. She is doing great and growing well. I also had to take the Glucose test again, and once again, I PASSED! Thank goodness no more nasty orange drink. UGH!

December is the month of parties. Mike and I went to the Whitney Center party that they held at Woodwinds in Branford. It was nice, we had a good time. Finally had some time to talk with Bill (my BFF) and Mike talked sports with Joe (Steph's husband). Unfortunately when we were leaving I started to feel sick. And I barely got the truck door open in time. Later in the month we celebrated at work, just the accounting office. Everyone brought food, I brought a veggie platter. We did a secret santa and I got $10 to Olive Garden. Both of the big bosses gave us gift certificates (Dunkin Donuts and Walmart). So it was a good day.

We tried to keep the boys busy this month. We took them and Victoria to see the lights at Hubbard Park. We took all of them to Santa's Village in town. We had hot chocolate and got candy canes there. We also took the boys to a Breakfast with Santa. I was Santa'd out by the end.

Mike and I got our tree. He told me 5 feet max, but it was more like 6 feet. It didn't fall down one time this year! Victoria came over and helped Mike decorate it while I unwrapped the ornaments. We also put up the boys tree.

Mike and I went to our first Quinnipiac Hockey game. Thanks again to Dennis. And they won! It's always nice when they win. Victoria and I went to our annual Women's Night in Wallingford. Stephanie's church does it every year. We make a craft, have a nice dinner, their are people selling things and we watch a play. Victoria looks forward to it every year.

Unfortunately right before Christmas, my good friend, Ruth Murray, passed away unexpectedly. She is still very much missed and loved.

Be Careful!

9 Words Women Use

1. Fine : This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
2. Five Minutes : If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.
3. Nothing : This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments this begin with nothing usually end in fine.
4. Go Ahead : This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!
5. Loud Sigh : This isn't actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to #3 for the meaning of Nothing)
6. That's Okay : This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
7. Thanks : A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you're welcome. (We need to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she says "Thanks a lot" - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say "you're welcome"...That will bring on "whatever".)
8. Whatever : Is a woman's way of saying...Go to HELL...
9. Don't Worry About It, I Got It : Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking "What's wrong?" For a woman's response refer to #3.

32 Weeks

How your baby's growing:

By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, she'll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth.

31 Weeks

How your baby's growing:

This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.

Cena Prayer...Goose bumps!

Sorry there isn't a great video of it :(

Let us pray
Lord Jesus it is you, who wakes me up every day
And I am forever grateful for your love..
.. this is why I pray
...You let me touch so many people, and it's all for the good
I influenced so many children, I never thought that I would
And I couldn't take credit for the love they get
because it all comes from you Lord
I'm just the one that's givin it
And when it seems like the pressure gets to be too much
I take time out and pray, and ask that you be my crutch
Lord I am not perfect by a longshot -- I confess to you daily
But I work harder everyday, and I hope that you hear me
In my heart I mean well, but if you'll help me to grow
then what I have in my heart, will begin to show
And when I get goin, I'm not lookin back for NOTHIN
Cause I will know where I'm headed, cause I'm so tired of the sufferin
I don't deserve what you've given me, but you never took it from me
because I am grateful, and I use it,
If what you want from me is to bring your children to you
my regret is only having one life to do it, instead of two
Amen

For My Marine!

A Marine Sergeant wrote this in response to an army guy who posted a comment on ...the Marine Corps site that he was sick and tired of "Marine arrogance".

The Sergeant says,

"I think that's what makes Marines special, if only in our own minds, is that elusive Quality of Esprit D'Corps. It's the fact that we, as individual Marines, don't feel that we are individual Marines. When we wear our uniform, when we ...hear our Hymn, when we go into battle, we are going with every other Marine who ever wore the uniform.

Standing behind us are the Marines who fought during the birth Of our nation. We're standing with the Marines who fought in WWI and gave birth to the legend of the "Tueful Hunden", or "Devil Dogs". We are standing with the Marines who took Iwo and Tarawa and countless other blood soaked islands throughout the Pacific.

We are standing with the "Frozen Chosin" and our beloved Chesty Puller. We are standing with the Marines who battled at Hue City and Khe Sanh and the muddy rice paddies of South East Asia. We are standing with the Marines who fought in Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom and now, are fighting in Afghanistan.

Like real brothers, their blood courses through our veins, and when we go into battle, we would rather lay down our lives than be a disappointment to them. We carry on our backs, their legacy, their deaths and their honor. We carry that for the rest of our lives.

The Marines Corps uniform doesn't come off when our active duty is over. We wear it daily in our attitude, and our love of Corps and country. We wear it on our tattoos and our bumper stickers. We wear it in our hearts.

It's why, no matter where we are in the world, on November 10th, every Marine celebrates the Marine Corps birthday. It's why we'll never be an army of 1. It's why we never stop being Marines. It's why, for most of us, being a Marine isn't something we were. It's something we are.

It's the most important part of who and what we are. Some say we're arrogant. We say we're proud. We have a right to be proud. We are the United States Marines The most feared and ferocious group of warriors to walk the face of this earth.

When Americas' enemies formulate their battle plans, they plan on going around Marine units, because they know Damn well that they can't go through them. We are what other branches wish they were.

We are the modern day Spartans. This isn't bragging. It's written in the battle history of our country. When there's a parade and the Marines march by, everyone pays a little more attention. Some say "arrogance". We call it "pride". It's why, in a crowd of service men, you can always spot the Marine. Why are Marines special? I don't know. We just are.

Happy New Year

Interesting fact about today:

One of the biggest days for divorce attorneys is the first business day after New Years’ Day. Probably that holds true year after year because so many people try to keep their families in tact until after the holidays.

30 weeks 1 day

How your baby's growing:

Your baby's about 15.7 inches long now, and she weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. Her eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after she's born, she'll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.)
